It's all God's money
Probably the easiest area for us as Christian men to reject is the heavenly intention behind His blessings with finances (only second to the intimate relation with a wife and how it is distorted with lust). I recently made some difficult decisions with pursuing extra income, budgeting with our spending, and cancelling some bills in the "extra spending/pleasure" category. Being a good steward of what God has given me is something I am far from mastering, but I am increasingly inspired to move toward this goal. Those closest to me show me the benefits of doing this. I understand only now that working hard and being grateful for that which is provided is the best place to be in to truly know God's plan with His resources (including His time). It's when we want more and abuse what He grants us with, that we shortchange the lessons and blessings He has in store. I have a long way to go but I hope to accomplish much and reap the benefits in kind. I also hope to take joy in the trials along the way. My priorities are as follows: time taken to listen to Christ and grow in Him, budgeted time frames to focus on my family (now, my wife), and to nurture the relationships that God leads me toward. I love the challenge of being entrusted with God's money and the weight of responsibility that comes with it.
